Hawaiian Acres
Hawaiian Acres is a large Upper Puna subdivision with access from the Lower Hwy 130 via Ainaloa Rd and the upper hwy 19 Via North Kulani or Kauali Rd. WIth these several access points spanning between many miles, it is apparent just how large of a subdivision Hawaiian Acres truly is. The subdivision originally consisted well over 12,000 acres and was divided into approximately 4,000 parcels of land. It is located at an elevation of about 700 to 1500 ft and therefore Hawaiian Acres does have cooler temperatures than some of the Lower lying subdivisions. The towns that surround the area are Keaau, Kurtistown and Mountain View. All of which offer public services such as post offices, and schools, along with grocery stores and gas stations. Hawaiian Acres does consist of mostly unpaved roads that are carved out of the lava floor and ohia, fern forests and some roads require four wheel drive for ease of access. Overhead electricity is available on most roadways along with other standard utility services such as cable and phone. The subdivision does have an association and roads committee however, membership is not mandatory
